Abstract

This article focuses on the election of Howard Dean as the chairman of the Democratic National Committee in the U.S. From the last few years, Democratic Party has been in a worse electoral state. Republicans occupy the White House. Same situation exists for Democrats in the states. As Dean settles into his new position, the most important question for him will be, why is the Democratic Party at its lowest point in eighty years. And the best answer is values. Exit polls from the recent presidential election, also indicate that voters cited moral values as the single most important issue. During the election, Dean appeared to symbolize the modern Democrats' official religion of secularism and the party badly needs to show that it views religion with contempt.
