L-3 Communications Awarded $11 M Contract to Provide Cryptographic Unit.

The article reports that Communication Systems-East division of L-3 Communications Corp. has been awarded a contract by Lockheed Martin Corp. to design and develop the TRANSEC COMSEC Unit for the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS). The MUOS is a next-generation narrowband tactical satellite communication system that will provide significantly improved voice and data communications for the mobile warfighter. The U.S. Navy's Communications Satellite Program Office will acquire the MUOS and narrowband satellite communications for the U.S. Department of Defense.
