- This essay presents a slightly edited version of the essay "About Bert's Father," that was originally published in the May-June 2004 issue of "Blue Ridge Country." It tells about the author's meeting with Bert Frothingham, daughter of book editor Maxwell Perkins. Perkins was the editor of the manuscripts of American author Thomas Wolfe.
