- The article profiles American actor and comedian Adam Sandler. He was born on September 9, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York. At a young age, Sandler's father exposed him to the slapstick comedy of Jerry Lewis, Mel Brooks and Abbott and Costello. His acting career started when he was accepted at the New York University's theater program, the Lee Strasberg Institute. Among his hit movies include "Billy Madison," "Happy Gilmore," "The Wedding Singer," "The Waterboy," "50 First Dates" and "The Longest Yard."
