Abstract
- The article focuses on the services offered by the Beijing Sunny Village. Established in December 2002, the shelter provided a home for children whose parents are serving prison sentences. Zhang Shuqin, a retired member of the Shaanxi Prison Management Board developed the concept for a children's shelter. Over 30 percent of the 115 children housed in the shelter were either school dropouts or never attended school at all.
