Abstract

The article reports that the federal government of the United States has withheld the visa of Bolivian Scholar Waskar T. Ari, who was hired by the University of Nebraska at Lincoln as an assistant professor of history and ethnic studies. The scholar has been unable to take up his post due to this reason. The scholar earned a Ph.D. in history from Georgetown University in the year 2005. According to Barbara S. Weinstein, history professor at the University of Maryland at College Park, the situation is quite disturbing. While speaking on behalf of Ari, she further speculated that there must be a reason of ethnicity behind not issuing the visa.
