The Ocean Policy Summit 2005.

The article reports on the Ocean Policy Summit meeting held in Lisbon, Portugal from 11-13 October 2005 with the theme "Integrated Ocean Policy: National and Regional Experiences, Prospects and Emerging Practices." The convention focuses on the various aspects of integrated oceans management as well as the concurrence among multiple ocean uses and agencies. The principles for integrated national and regional ocean governance were also discussed among the participants. Conference participants met in groups where they addressed the issues related to barriers in formulating and implementing national policies and how capacity development opportunities can be enhanced.
