Abstract
- The article focuses on the acting career of Owen and Luke Wilson in the U.S. They made their debut in Bottle Rocket, a movie that was a disarming mixture of nagging comedy and unabashed bigheartedness. The two screenplays Owen Wilson next co wrote proved uncommonly ambitious and Luke Wilson delivered a pair of neatly understated performances. Both Wilsons seem to have drawn all the wrong lessons from their early successes. While he was working with Wes Anderson, Owen Wilson began appearing in big-budget productions like Armageddon and Meet the Parents. His very presence in these movies seemed an ironic commentary on the state of contemporary blockbuster moviemaking. As for Luke Wilson, he gave the most deeply felt performance in The Royal Tenenbaums, playing a tennis prodigy with suicidal tendencies. INSET: Worth the $2.99 Rental Fee.
