EPA tightens controls for microbials and disinfection byproducts.

The article reports on the two published regulation that tightens controls for microbials and disinfection byproducts by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Under the Long-Term 2 enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule, drinking-water utilities are directed to intensify their monitoring and treatment for waterborne microbial pathogens. Likewise, the Stage 2 Disinfectants and DBP Rule directs utilities to simultaneously understate the presence of substance that contaminates known as disinfections byproducts.
