Abstract
- The article examines whether mercury found in dental amalgams is a neurotoxic risk. Dental amalgams contain 50% mercury by weight and have been used by dentists for 150 years. The article refers to two medical studies published in this issue of the "Journal of the American Medical Association," including the study by David C. Bellinger and colleagues and Timothy A. DeRouen and colleagues. According to the author, more medical studies researching the subtle effects and risks of mercury in dental amalgams are needed.
