Abstract
- The article reflects on the effective clinical approach employed by the Topeka State Hospital in Kansas in 1949 to address the problems that came with the community mental health programs and deinstitutionalization. The author set Topeka State Hospital as an example to show that a clinical approach to mental health care is more practical and better for treating mentally ill patients, as the U.S. healthcare workers conform to the new decentralized, community health care system.
