Abstract

This article reports on a variation on author readings and signings being adopted by major American publishers. Author appearances, traditionally held in bookstores, are now being held in corporate offices. Both publishers and corporate executives are pleased with the results of in-house readings, but booksellers are not. Author appearances are often crucial lures for book-buyers and company events can affect over-all sales in bookstores.
