Abstract

The article presents information on three decades of contributions by Apple Computer Inc. to the computer industry. It reflects that the company was founded on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak to begin selling the Apple I computers. After thirty years the company could credit a hold on the personal computer industry especially in such areas as graphical interface, desktop publishing and digital music. The article views that after Apple popularized concepts such as the desktop, windows and the mouse, Microsoft Corp. copied many of these elements for the first version of Microsoft Windows. Though Apple was quickly unable to compete in the everyday business and personal computer markets, the experts comments that it has been a blessing in disguise. Because the company could focus on improved graphics capabilities and better multimedia. Guy Kawasaki, an early Apple marketing employee comments that when he used a Macintosh computer for the first time the experience was overwhelming and he never experienced the same reaction to a product so far.
