In the title compound, [Cu(C4H5NO4)(C10H8N2)(H2O)]·5H2O, the CuII atom is coordinated by an N, O-bidentatel-aspartate dianion, a bipyridine ligand and a water mol­ecule in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry.
