Abstract

The article focuses on the changes advocated and the challenges faced by George M. Gray, the new chief of the Office of Research & Development of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The program is now facing a dwindling budget while it aims to meet the greater demands for information and science. Nevertheless, Gray is optimistic and proposed some changes, including the improvement of the agency's database for risks and uncertainties and research for sewage and water infrastructure.
