Abstract

The author reports on new evidence involving the deaths of 24 Iraqi civilians in Haditha, which U.S. Marines had initially reported were the result of a roadside bomb. According to the author, a military investigation headed by Col. Gregory Watt has uncovered evidence that the civilians were killed by gunshot wounds. The author states that it now appears the civilians were killed as a result of an unprovoked attack by U.S. forces.
