Abstract: The article comments on the research paper "The Politics of Ritual: The Emergence of Classic Maya Rulers," by Lisa J. Lucero. According to the author, the ritual practice considered as the chief source of elite power that evolved from household ritual power as described by Lucero. He views that the marking of household patterns as elite classes envisages component of segmentary states and politics found immensely in Maya society.
