Health and social care to move closer together.

This article reports that the Government White paper on health care, released on 30 January 2006, aims to ensure greater working between health and social care in Great Britain. The proposals aims to make community services more flexible and give patients and service users more control over the treatment they receive. The paper includes a focus on mental health, including the piloting of talking therapies, the development of standards for these, the regulation and light-touch registration of counsellors and psychotherapists, and a commitment to more anti-stigma and anti-discrimination work.
