Abstract
- The article presents a paper that examined what historical records reveal about the life of Christian Watt, a previously unknown, long-term inmate of the Aberdeen Royal Asylum, and how this compares with her own account, as published in "The Christian Watt Papers" in the 1980s. Her life became the subject of a play and a television documentary and she was noted as a protofeminist who rebelled against the lowly position of women in the community where she belonged.
