Abstract

The article reports on the strategic partnership forged between Microsoft Corp. and XenSource Inc. for the creation of technology to provide interoperability between Xen-enabled Linux and Windows Server virtualization. When the technology is ready, it will help the enterprise customers who deploy Novell's SUSE Linux or Red Hat's Red Hat Linux access two excellent virtualization solutions created to make use of all the things being offered by Linux. Furthermore, one of the significant pieces of the technology is to provide an adapter between the Xen hypercall API and the Microsoft Windows Server virtualization hypercall API. This will result in the adaptation of the existing Linux implementations that are Xen-enabled to run on the 'Longhorn' Server that has been enabled with Viridian.
