Abstract
- The article reports that International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) will employ the latest release of Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 to support the Xen open-source virtualization technology on its x86 servers. Later, IBM will attach SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 and Xen support to its other server platforms. Virtualization's success also has attracted a number of companies ranging from heavyweights such as Microsoft to smaller companies like SWsoft and Virtual Iron. Xen was developed through an open-source project to introduce a free hypervisor that reflects what VMware's technology does. Xen 3.0 was introduced last year, based on which companies such as XenSource have begun releasing products.
