- The author reflects on the impact of the departure of TV news anchor Dan Rather from CBS News before the term of his contract, on the news business in the U.S. as of 2006. Rather in his bitter farewell statement said he was leaving CBS because he was not given the time to produce the kind of special reports on which he had built his career.
