RASGOS SINTÁCTICO-DISCURSIVOS EN EL CORPUS PAAU 1992: APROXIMACIÓN CUANTITATIVA.

In this paper we analyse discourse and syntactic features related to academic expository texts produced by Spanish students entering university. We begin with an electronic corpus, the PAAU 1992 Corpus, that can be considered representative of this academic language use. This corpus consists of 750 copies of the June 1992 University access examination session and it has been processed using computer tools of linguistic analysis, in order to perform searches of grammatical and linguistic information. Thanks to the computer processing, it is possible to identify and quantify specific linguistic features related to four discourse characteristics of the text type studied: a) writer's objectivity and distance, b) synthetic writing, c) syntactic complexity and d) logical, chronological and argumentation coherence.
