Abstract

The entry presents information on trace metals and the immune system. The presence of trace metals in the human body can sometimes be toxic because of their ability to evade established controls for cellular uptake, transport and compartmentalization. The immunotoxicity of trace metals such as aluminum, cooper, manganese and zinc is discussed.
