Abstract

The article focuses on the problem regarding the decision to build and pave a road along a lake located in a city park of Omicron and to install enough lights to make the walk pleasant and safe during the night. In placing the lights along the border closer to the lake, some council members feel that it will be cheaper because this side of the street is shorter than the other side. In contrast, the professors speculate that the key problem is the length of the middle line of the road, which is the line equidistant at every point from the borders. Based from their analysis, it has been found that the cost of putting the lights on the border of the road further from the lake is only a bit more than the cost of putting them along the lake.
