Abstract

This article describes the arrest of Rashid Rauf in Pakistan by Pakistani officials for his alleged role in the plot to blow up planes flying from Great Britain to U.S. cities. Rauf is British-born and is believed to have been acting as a liaison for Al Qaeda and the British plotters. After Rauf was arrested, the British arrested up to 24 suspects in England who were planning to use liquid explosives carried onto passenger planes and to detonate them as they flew to U.S. cities.
