Abstract

As a result of the impact that globalization has generated on territories, the productive reconstruction and spatial adjustments issue has been one of the most debated theme by economists and geographers in the nineties. In this respect, numerous proposals from an ample group of schools of thought in economy and economic geography have been made, some of which have been applied to the interpretation of the industry's spatial behavior. This paper makes a survey of the subject at issue, considering the contribution that in their understanding the theories have been provided to the growth and economic geography, as well as the approaches that examine it from the firm's organization of the Local Productive Systems. Specifically, some ideas and contributions are examined in this respect that have been made from the Latinamerican environment research approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
