Abstract

The article discusses ways on how to protect corporate databases. The protection of databases involves the implementation of key defenses such as access control and authentication, vulnerability scanners, data access monitors and encryption. One of the key drivers is the Payment Card Industry which specifies some requirements for all companies which are receiving credit cards including logical access control, periodic network scans, encrypted transmission of cardholder data, and activity monitoring and logging.
