A Better Future for Children Through Libraries.

The article focuses on the author's aim to provide great library service for children and to help create a better future for them. During her career, she has held a variety of leadership positions in libraries and in professional organizations, while trying to make a contribution on the state level. Her initiatives included the use of video to help libraries capture local information, establishment of the Nutmeg Award for children, and maintenance of summer reading programs. She is also interested in assisting parents and caregivers in Oregon and many other states maximize children's chances to succeed in school by investing in the preschool years.
