Abstract
- The article reports on a two-day workshop concerning the Himalayan seismicity and tectonics with special reference on the October 8, 2005 Muzaffarabad earthquake, conducted on December 30-31, 2005 in Hyderabad, India. The need to identify reasons for localization of seismicity in the Himalaya belt and its relationship with the transverse peninsular structures in the Gangetic plains was emphasized by K. S. Valdiya in his inaugural address. Eighteen papers related to the topic were presented and the event was concluded with a panel discussion and recommendations for the future.
