Abstract

The article presents information on Mohawk Fine Papers Inc., which is making all efforts to change the traditional paper making process that includes toxic dyes. The company produces letterheads, writing paper, and gift cards. It makes premium copy paper by using 100% post-consumer recycled fiber. This eliminates the need to cut down 312,000 trees. It buys 13,000 tons of post-consumer fiber. The dyes they use in processing paper is chlorine free. 38% power used by the company is generated from 45 million kilowatt-hours of wind power. The company was honored with a Green Power Leadership Award recently by the U.S. Department of Energy.
