Abstract

The article cites a study on the comparability of the prevalence physical activity estimates from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Both systems were used in studies determining the prevalence of physical activity among U.S. adults aged 18-99 years old that were listed in the National Physical Activity and Weight Loss Survey. Through telephone survey, data were analyzed from 9,945 adults who completed BRFSS and IPAQ questions. Results showed differences in physical activity categories for sex, age, income, education, and body mass index. Due to different results, direct comparison of the two survey is not recommended.
