Abstract

The article reports on statistics related to the measurement of adequate yearly progress, or AYP, under the United States' No Child Left Behind Act. According to the article, the number of schools meeting AYP fell from 75 percent to 71 percent. Under the No Child Left Behind Act, all students must be proficient, by 2014, on state reading and mathematics tests, including subgroups of students who are poor, speak limited English, belong to racial or ethnic minority groups.
