Abstract
- The article discusses how messaging administrators backup and restore messages, and provides information for new technologies used. Increasingly, experts have begun to focus instead on changing their mail systems' underlying storage platform from server-based, direct-attached storage (DAS) to some type of storage-area network that offers more options for faster, disk-based e-mail backups and restores. Looking for new technologies, messaging administrators are moving away from DAS to networked storage that offers snapshot technology closely integrated with Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Corp.'s Volume Shadow Copy Service.
