Abstract
- The article looks at ways to reduce maternal mortality. The authors state there is a need for context-specific service and community-based strategies in addition to intrapartum care. The authors also make four policy recommendations, which include greater family awareness of the risks of sepsis and access to antibiotics, oral misoprostol should be provided to government-based outreach health workers in order to help prevent maternal death from hemorrhage, and governments should focus on creating safer motherhood programs to help empower women and communities for their pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care rights.
