- The article offers information on the election of Mark Beckwith as the bishop to the Episcopal Church of Newark, New Jersey. Mark Beckwith has been elected as the 10th Episcopal bishop in Newark. Bishop election in the Episcopal Church has been a matter of contention since 2003, since the election of Canon V. Gene Robinson, who is a gay, as the bishop of New Hampshire.
