Abstract
- The article studies the Lewis acidity of unsaturated iridium amides induced by proton. Brønsted acids convert 16e amido-amine complexes to novel organometallic Lewis acids exhibiting wide-ranging reactivity. Oxidation of 1H(H) with Ph3CPF6 yielded [1H(NCMe)PF6. The oxidation also represents a formal oxidation of dihydrogen, the proton residing on the untosylated amine. Iridium experiences no net change in oxidate state during the conversion.
