Abstract: This article reports on the decision by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to close part of the trading floor. This move comes as restrictions on electronic trading have been eased. The NYSE is also now a for-profit company, after a merger of the Big Board with Archipelago Holdings Inc., and many shareholders are looking for ways to increase productivity and profitability.
