Abstract

The article comments on the paper "Sex Differences in Intrinsic Aptitude for Mathematics and Science? A Critical Review," by E. S. Spelke. It focuses on the claim regarding gender differences in mean levels of cognitive abilities. The first component of the comment is based on asserting that males and females have equal cognitive ability. Modern intelligence researchers and theorists have documented extensively mean sex differences on cognitive ability measures. The second component of the comment is based on the scope of the paper. Spelke ignored the determination of success in advanced study in mathematics and sciences.
