Abstract: The article addresses some misconceptions in algebra, the mathematics of generalized arithmetical operations. In the study made by author, it indicated that the students taught with an emphasis on discussions were better able to correctly simplify and substitute into algebraic expressions. With this, teachers must use or employ appropriate methods to present the subject to the class. Other information relative to the matter is presented.
