The article highlights several commentaries in response to the articles presented at the "American Ethnologists Forum" in the U.S. Some commentaries formulates the distinctive features of participant-observation fieldwork by considering unfunded research at home. It analyzes the conjuncture of research style and the existing U.S. system for regulating research ethics. There are comments that marked the ineffectively of the U.S. systems regarding the support it provides for ethnographic practice.
