Abstract

The article reports on the strategic initiative of IBM and Oracle to meet the mainframe demand of Linux. According to Kim Stallings, general manager of the System z of IBM, Linux customers and Linux workloads represent a significant percentage of their mainframe growth revenue. It complements a series of investments made by IBM and Oracle in support of Linux as an enterprise application platform. The sales teams of both companies will collaborate to present the advantages of the initiative's offerings to joint customers. Solutions for the initiative will be available with both the IBM System z9 Enterprise Class and IBM System z9 Business Class servers.
