Abstract
- The article discusses the author's insight on preoperative radiotherapy as a method of reducing the risk of failure in rectal cancer irradiation. He stresses on the radiation therapy, the 5 x 5 Gy radiation schedule that reduces failure rates and improves surgical survivals. He adds that this short course schedule is the most efficient therapy. He also looks into the study by S. Brooks on the continuous hyperfractionated radiation therapy as preoperative therapy for rectal cancer.
