Abstract
- The article explores the role of robotic technology in laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (LRP). It defines a surgical robot, its uses and functions. It describes the various robotic technology for use in surgery including the Automated Endoscopic System for Optimum Positioning and daVinci™ robot from Intuitive Surgical Inc., and EndoAssist™ from Armstrong Healthcare Ltd. The advantages and disadvantages of robotic technology in LRP are also discussed.
