Abstract

Abstract: Ni–graphite composites were prepared by electroforming technology in a nickel sulphamate solution with graphite particles in suspension. The influence of graphite content, load and rotating speed on the properties of friction and wear was studied. The study indicates that wear resistance is improved to a critical value as graphite content increases, and then becomes worse. Both friction coefficient and wear mass loss increase with increasing load and rotating speed. The mechanism is transferred from abrasive wear for pure Ni to delaminating wear for Ni-graphite composites. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
