Abstract

The article provides an overview of the registration of Binscarth barley, a cultivar which was developed at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research Centre and was registered on May 5, 2006. The variety was derived from the cross Brandon CC 053//'B1602'/BT 347/3/' Argyle'/'Conquest'/4/ 'Duel'//'Vivar'/'AC Rosser'. It is susceptible to Fusarium head blight and is moderately resistant to common root rot and spot blotch. Details on yield and agronomic traits, breeding conditions and method, maintenance, and growth habits are presented.
