Abstract

Biblical Criticism (BC) is the approach to the study of Scripture, which consciously and honestly searches and applies the canons of reason to its investigation of the text. BC comprises a large number of distinguishable but interrelated methodologies and disciplines. Although there are differences between BC and psychical research in terms of goals and methods, there are similarities that provide sufficient reason to investigate how these two approaches to understanding reality can relate and open up some new possibilities for both of these disciplines. The purpose of this study is to examine in some detail the methodologies and approaches to the interpretation of Scripture through Biblical Criticism and show how these can have implications for psychical research.
