Abstract

The article describes two bookstores that opened on the same day in 1972 in neighboring towns in New York are still open and thriving in spite of competition from Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon.com, the Internet, Wal-Mart, and iPods. One of the stores is located in Chappaqua, the home of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
