Abstract

The article presents a mathematical challenge that allows learners to discover surprising ideaa regarding the subject. It offers various tasks that can generate discussion on how surprise can be created, generated, nurtured and harnessed during mathematics training. They include the sandpiles task that requires learners to predict shapes, and the double-digit reduction task develop by Milan Hejny.
