Abstract

The article presents an overview of this issue of "National Wildlife." Duke University scientists report that rising atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide will likely accelerate the growth of more potent forms of poison ivy and other noxious vines. It will also increase pollen production in ragweed. Other research shows that faster plant growth from this greenhouse gas buildup results in a decline in plant nutrients, which means that insects may have to consumer more to get the same level of nutrition they now receive. The article also discusses myths surrounding wolves and bird watching in winter.
